Organization Background

The Center of Excellence on Sustainable Agricultural Intensification and Nutrition (CE SAIN) was founded by the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) in partnership with Sustainable Intensification Innovation Lab at Kansas State University. CE SAIN aims to foster private sector innovation, agricultural research, education and training, and public-sector capacity building through improved collaboration and knowledge sharing focusing on enhancing food and nutritional security in Cambodia. We also join the efforts to improve quality of education, research and extension services at RUA. To fulfil our goal, CE SAIN partners with several national and international entities (public and private sector and NGOs) to implement our activities through various funding sources.

CE SAIN is currently seeking for Four Aquaculture Interns under the cooperation with Commercialization of Aquaculture for Sustainable Trade (CAST) of American Soybean Association (ASA) as following:

  • Location: 2 positions for Kampong Thom and 2 positions for Kandal Province
  • Reporting: Aquaculture Technical Officer (AqTO) and ASA-CAST’s technicians
  • Citizenship: Cambodian
  • Incentive: $200/month plus other benefits for interns who will be working with farmers (see details below)
  • Contract Period: 3 months and a haft (possible for extension)

Job Profile

She/he will act as an intern to gain knowledge and participate in all activities of the CAST project and work experience with farmers in the targeted areas.

Specific Roles & Responsibilities

  • Have to work full time (40 hours per week) but can be flexible according to job requirements.
  • Intern will be under the direct supervision of AqTO and ASA-CAST’s technician
  • Make a monthly or weekly action plan and submit it to the AqTO and ASA-CAST’s technician
  • Stay on the farm and work with fish farmers to assist them with recording keeping
  • Required to participate in all discussions about the action plan and implementation
  • Required to report activities and problems encountered in their work activities to AqTO and ASA-CAST’s technician
  • Must perform other tasks as requested by the AqTO and ASA-CAST’s technician or according to the actual situation.

Required Qualification/Skills:

  • Students who just graduated with a bachelor’s degree in aquaculture or other relevant majors at various universities.

Other Knowledge and Skills:

  • Have an acceptable level of English (can speak and write)
  • Have a good national language (Good writing and speaking)
  • Have knowledge related to aquaculture

  • Receive 200$ monthly incentive and plus 100$ transportation and 72$ meals (tax is included) allowance only for interns who will be working with farmers
