Ms. Katheryn Gregerson is a visiting graduate student researcher from the University of California, Davis, in the United States. She will be collaborating with CE SAIN from July-August 2023, on her master’s research project “Feasibility of Agricultural Index Insurance for Rice Producers in Battambang, Cambodia”. Katheryn will work alongside CE SAIN staff in Phnom Penh and at the Battambang Agricultural Technology Park to evaluate whether or not index insurance could be an innovative and resilience-boosting risk management tool for rice producers in Cambodia.

On top of this, Katheryn also currently serves as a Graduate Student Researcher with the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Horticulture at UC Davis. Prior to this role, she worked on special projects for the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Markets, Risk and Resilience. Before her graduate studies, Katheryn served as a Program Coordinator at Kansas State University for CE SAIN’s Food Pathogen on Vegetables Project. She also has gained experience in international business development through her role as a Program Development Coordinator with Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture in Washington, DC.

Katheryn earned her bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Global Food Systems Leadership from Kansas State University in 2020. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in International Agricultural Development from the University of California, Davis (UC Davis).
