Conservation Agriculture is a farming system that promotes minimum soil disturbance (i.e., no tillage), maintenance of a permanent soil cover, and diversification of plant species.  It enhances biodiversity and natural biological process above and below the ground surface, which contribute to increased water and nutrient use efficiency and to improved and sustained crop production.  Sustainable Intensification (SI) is a concept that aims to improve resource use efficiency and enhance productivity of farms without creating negative environmental or social impacts. SI requires the efficient use of labor and access to appropriate mechanization and tools for efficient management of agricultural land.  SI not only takes into consideration components of biophysical sciences but also social sciences to measure impacts on multiple domains of social, human condition, economic, environment, and productivity (SHEEP).  Conservation agriculture for sustainable intensification aligns with several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, is climate smart and is resilient. Under the context of CA4SI abstracts are requested on:

  • Horticulture and CASI
  • Grains and CASI
  • Livestock or Poultry and CASI
  • Aquaculture (Fish Innovation Lab) and CASI
  • Wild Gardens or Cover Crops and CASI

In addition, in your abstracts provide which indicator or set of indicators your presentation can be classified based on the Sustainable Intensification Assessment Framework.   The set of indicators are organized into the five SHEEP domains: Social, Human condition, Economics, Environment, and Productivity.   For more details on the sustainable intensification framework visit link.   Deadline for oral and/or poster abstract submission is April 11, 2022. Submit your abstracts at Piestar RFx. Decisions on abstract acceptance is by April 22, 2022.

For citizens of the 11 Southeast Asian countries, you can apply for travel grants in the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).  The deadline for applications for the SEARCA travel grants is on May 7, 2022, and decisions will be available by May 15, 2022.

From the Cambodian Embassy’s website, inbound passengers must have at least two Covid-19 vaccine doses and must take a rapid test in the airport.   If the result is negative, they are free to travel in Cambodia.   Should their rapid test result be positive for the Covid-19, a specimen will be taken for a polymerase chain

To be included in the program, you will be required to pay a non-refundable registration fee by May 22, 2022.   The conference is a hybrid, a presenter can present in the conference face to face or through a video.  Whether you will present face to face or not, everyone will be required to send a video of presentations by June 1, 2022; with the same deadline for posters for all poster presenters.  The registration fee’s structure is below; and on-line or other forms of payment will be accepted starting May 1, 2022.
